The Butcher is mid-tech design from Andre De Villiers that is one serious folder. Now it's available in a Tactical model with some added and upgraded features. It's still smooth, fast, sharp, and stout - really everything one looks for in a tactical blade. The Tac Butcher has a 3.75" Wharncliffe blade made from the excellent S35VN stainless steel. This top quality blade has a brushed satin finish with a mirror polish in the blood groove. It's added a thumb disk, which you can use to open the blade instead of the flipper and there is a swedge added to the blade for better piercing cuts. The handle is Titanium with gray anodizing and skeletonized holes to add grip and reduce weight. The edges of the handle scales are a polished gold finish, which really accents this knife beautifully. They are produced in small batches which is what makes this knife a mid-tech instead of a full on custom knife where each handle is made specifically for each knife.
The Titanium lock has a lockbar stabilizer/over travel mechanism similar to the Hinderer Lockbar Stabilizer. The pivot point is what sets this knife apart from all others. It has an inset torx screw that fits inside the pivot, allowing you to tighten down the pivot while adjusting the centering or overall smoothness of the action. That action is very smooth to say the least. Jimping on the flipper tang is sharp and functional, really nothing was overlooked on this awesome design. There's even a small run of jimping on the deep carry clip to assist you in drawing it from the pocket. The pocket clip on the Tac Butcher has also been redesigned to allow for better retention in thick pant pockets. This may not be your typical looking knife, but get it in your hand and you'll definitely warm up to the design thanks to all the great features it has and the fact that the action is on par with even the best flipping designs.
